Do the moderators go through our comments too or just the questions?

As long as you keep banned statements to your comments, you should be fine.

The moderators are regular members of fluther, too. So yes, they do read comments.

On the other hand, the moderators don’t just wander around looking for things to delete. Members “flag” questions and answers (surely you’ve noticed the little “flag as” links next to questions and comments?) and they only specifically review questions AND answers that have already been flagged by members.

I mean do they go through other peoples private comments?

This is just too funny. Sorry. Didn’t mean to imply there’s a blacklist… or is there? Damn, I’m surely on it if there is. And I’m sure there is.

I’m not a mod. But I know that some members have been harassed in comments and they will look at them.

I was told that I am a miserable person and I should do the world a favor and commit suicide in a private comment. They looked at that.

But they don’t care about the tons of worthless crap that gets posted. They need to be alerted to it to care.

So we’re safe and can freely make banned statements.

Why not test the waters and say something that will be banned?

Well, they have jobs and school and stuff. You pretty much have to flag stuff for them to look at it. I have a few mods on AIM and they don’t read everything. I point stuff out all the time.

I don’t even know if I’m messing with you or not. Last I heard, @johnpowell is a Moderator. I don’t understand why he’s denying it. I’ve never seen a mod do this before. Maybe it’s a stealth tactic to try to make you feel comfortable, then, when you make a banned statement, Whammo, banned and blacklisted. I think it’s a setup. The only way to find out is for you to make a banned statement. Better try it out.

Good. Really, don’t worry. Moderators banned about 4 of my comments over the years but they never booted me out of Fluther. I honestly don’t see how they can even tolerate my inane, pointless, off-topic statements, but they let me survive. Maybe they think I’m a court jester or village idiot. I’ve actually had excellent conversations with mods in Fluther comments. They’re pretty good people. You have to really throw a flame war to get banned.
