I downloaded the newest version of the AK2i software and even tried AKAIO. Any ideas?

So only the CycloDS and the G6 work with the Wii, but would either of those work with the DSi?

Sadly it doesn’t. I have a CycloDS. When I upgraded to the DSi I bought an Acekard 2i. I’m sorry, you’re out of luck.
