Female mature ovum and male sperm meet, and fertilized. Develop and grows inside the female uterus, from embryo to a full 9 months baby.

@nephrons: Good answer.

Amendment: 9 months for humans, homo sapien. Other species vary.

@juanpi and mary2 and any other teenagers out there: If you can’t talk to mom, for whatever reason, pick up a book. This book, Woman’s Body, is a great resource. You can find it at amazon.com or check used book stores or order it through Borders or Barnes & Noble or your local bookstore.

And, teenage guys, there is also a Man’s Body book.

You have to go out in the garden and look under the cabbage leaves. That’s where
they live till grownups are ready to bring one home. Everyone knows this if they have
a grandma to explain it, and I’m sorry dear juanpi that yours somehow neglected to do so.
