How do I get jpegs from my hp1350 into iphoto?

The jpegs I am creating through scanning with my HP 1350 all in one printer/copier/scanner are not capable of being imported into iPhoto. Anyone know why?

You can always import them to your desktop and drop them into iPhoto

Seems like there should be a more direct route. What are you using to open the pics after you scan them? My scanner just opens the pic or whatever with Photoshop and then I save them anywhere I want them to go.

But what @Dog says should work.
