What kind of plant is this and how I take care of it?

We just got this plant for our house but have no clue what kind it is or what kind of care it requires. All that was told to us is to water it once a week. That’s not exactly explanatory so I reach out to you, fine folks, what kind of plant is this and how to care for it?

Also, isn’t it pretty?

Yes a peace lily and they are really easy to care for! I water mine once a week or so and they don’t really like being in direct sunlight!

@rowenaz really? we have one leaf that a bit torn, it would grow back if we clipped the end? or do you mean the whole leaf?

also, when should we clip the buds? oh and where.
