If I try to make a purchase on iTunes when the balance says less than the cost, then what will happen?

I want to know, more specifically, if the purchase is charged to the credit card that was assigned to the account, is not purchased, or something else. I;m just making sure nothing ridiculous happens.

It will be charged to your credit card, but not without a confirmation first– so you have the option to cancel. If you would like to raise your balance, you can purchase a gift card.
