To the point of reselling the car to another owner. That is to say, no significant trace of hair and no odor.

The only thing to do about the hair is a very thorough vacuuming followed by a lint roller. Febreeze works well for odors – spray liberally and then close the windows and doors for about 12 hours and leave it parked in the sun.

I’d also check the vent system – if you have it set on recycle, you may have odor in the system. You can turn it on high and spray a little lysol in the intake.

Also consider having the car cabin air filter changed regularly, helps keep the smell and dander down.

There are products at pet stores specifically for pet odor removal from upholstery. They have a special enzyme of some sort. I’ve heard Petrotech works.

I know there are a lot of Febreze fans out there, but I’m not one of them. I would avoid Febreze. I can smell that stuff from a mile away, and when I smell it I don’t think “oh that smells fresh and clean..” I think “oh, that smells like Febreeze-scented pet odor.” It always raises a red flag for me when a used car has been doused in it.
