Question
When you dream up a new re-modeling project, do you mean you want to start it some day, not RIGHT THAT MINUTE!
I’m a planner, my men are not, and they’re driving me nuts! For example, I have an old house, with odd rooms and corners. I love it. There was this little hallway thingy off of the kitchen that ended in a wall. Directly opposite of that is the dining room, with a corresponding closet. One day, about six years ago, I was musing about how cool it would be to take the dividing wall down, and have a short passage from the kitchen to the dining room….and crap!!! The very next instant my son, who was about 17 at the time, and my new-to-me husband were just ripping into that wall with hammers, crowbars and their hands because we didn’t have the tools to do it in an orderly manner! House was filling up with dust and stuff was flying….I’m yelling “I didn’t mean right this instant!!!” I just screwed my eyes closed, hoping it wasn’t a support wall.
This is just one example. I mean, you even breath an idea and they next thing you know they’re ripping shit up, and I’m yelling “I DIDN’T MEAN RIGHT THIS INSTANT! I! My son and my husband have torn out a breakfast bar and built a wall in it’s place, they’ve torn out a window and put a fireplace in it’s place….Rick and I bought a pond thingy at a garage sale. Not 30 minutes ago Rick and I were SIMPLY DISCUSSING (I thought!) of a good place for it. I’m musing, “Well, we could tear out that sidewalk, brick all this in…..” NOT TWO MINUTES LATER MY SON IS TEARING INTO THE SIDEWALK!! I’m yelling, I DIDN’T MEAN RIGHT THIS INSTANT!!! I told him Santa wasn’t bringing him ANYTHING for Christmas this year. He just laughs at me and says, “Again?”
