Has anyone in the US heard of the British singer Dizzee Rascal?

It’s notoriously difficult for British artists to make it big in the US but do you think Dizzee Rascal may have what it takes? A few of his recent hits on this side of the pond include Bonkers and Dance Wiv Me

No I have never heard of him- thanks for posting the links.

We Yanks have always loved Brit music since the Beatles so I think he has a chance in the US.

Yes, I have heard of him, I actually meet him at Coachelle Music Fest in 2004. He signed my shirt. Nice Chap.

Funny side note, the group of friends I was with at the time tried to see if he wanted to get high with them. He said, his manager told him to lay off the stuff. It was pretty funny.

Yes, I’ve heard of Dizzee Rascal. I actually found out who he was through Fixed by Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip. (The back track is from a Dizzee Rascal song called “Fix Up, Look Sharp.”)

Oh, shit. I do know of Dizzie Rascal. How unbelievably rude of me, I’m sorry.

Apologies all around.

@Allie sweet, I love Dan Le Sac and Scroobius Pip, do you know Thou Shalt always Kill ?

Allie's avatar

@RareDenver I do! I’ve got the Angles album. Listening to it now actually. Tommy C just played. GA for knowing Dan Le Sac/Scroobius Pip.

Yeah, he’s a “grime” MC. As others have mentioned, “Fix up, Look sharp” is probably his best known track.

The great thing about grime is that when you remove all the vocals, sometimes you have a passable dubstep track ;-)
