Should I avoid hair conditioner?

I’ve noticed that when I use conditioner, more of my hair falls out during my shower. Should I stop using conditioner then? Does conditioner have anything in it that my hair needs? (I use Pantene Pro-V). Has anybody ever had this happen to them, or noticed it as well?
