Is there a term describing this cartoon phenomenon?

I am wondering if there is a term that describes the phenomenon that occurs often in cartoons where a character will get injured in one scene, and be fine in the next scene (i.e. Wile E. Coyote), but in another scene, say a character gets a black eye, and it will remain for the entire episode.

And don’t just say, “it’s a cartoon”..... I am wondering if there is an actual term.
