Should I get an unsubscribed T*Mobile G1 phone ($150 used) for Android development or should I buy the Developer Phone for $399?

I am not a T*Mobile customer and do not plan on subscribing.

Hmm, do you need one of those on top of the Android emulator that (I think) comes in the Android SDK?

RESPONSE: I don’t need it but want to test the app on a mobile device. The feeling of gestures using mouse-on-computer is very different from finger-on-device!

I’ve been using my G1 just fine, the only reason I would get a development phone is because it’s unlocked and you can root in.

RESPONSE: Some ppl got a trimmed-down version to run on the G1. Now I wonder if Google is going to release Developer Phone v2. I still might get the G1 to make sure that my apps work well w/older technology. I probably won’t buy a Developer Phone v1 at this point.
