Would you call W.E.B. Du Bois' "The Souls of Black Folk" a treatise?

Fairly self explanatory. I have always wondered about the exact definition of a treatise. Yes or no with explanation will suffice.

Have you read it? I’m not sure I understand the question. It is one of the great sociology texts in American Literature. It is a book. You can get it at the liberry.

Right, I finished reading it last week and I’m not exactly sure how to label it (for a term paper). Should I call it a collection of essays or what?

Call it a masterpiece of Black American sociology, and a seminal text.
