How do you motivate yourself for a project?

How do you get motivated for a project? Do you procrastinate until the last minute and rely on that crunch-inspired adrenaline? Or do you plot, plan and idea storm until you’re hyped up to get started? Do you have to everything in perfect order beforehand or do you dive in head first?

I start by doing small tasks that are easy but directly relate to the task at hand. I find that once I start building momentum it’s a lot easier to get into the meat and potatoes of the project.

I’ve gotten an accountability buddy. He calls every few days to ask what I’ve been doing, and I do the same for him. It’s easier to crack the whip over someone else. As a matter of fact, we’re meeting tomorrow to go over what we’ve been writing so far.
