Is Google Analytics an effective way to track mobile phone access to a website?

I use Google Analytics personally and on client sites. I’m starting a project that will have a large mobile component and am wondering what issues I might run into using GA to track visits by mobile phones?

Google analytics should pick up the main mobile phone browsers including Nokia Blackberry and Motorola but I would personally run a basic logging program within the pages to write to a text file first if the website detects a non-web browser. That way you will be able to track the mobile users better and fine tune any mobile specific pages on an ongoing basis.
