Why did google reader just forget all of my rss feeds without notice?

To prevent something like this from happening (you never know, this time it’s a false alarm, but next time…), be sure to back up your subscriptions as an OPML file (Settings->Import/Export). This can also be read by other RSS readers, so you can always switch, too :)
