Can anybody help me with playing GTA4 on xbox live?

I can’t figure out how to access the xbox live options in the game. Anybody have any help with how to do this? Can you play with someone through xbox live and how does that work?

press up to bring up your in game cell phone, then scroll down to the multiplayer option
