Where to stay in Vegas or Ontario (CA)?

Asked by grumpyfish (6657points) January 15th, 2010

For an upcoming business trip, I’m either going to be overnighting in LAS or ONT and am wondering if anyone has suggestions for good places to stay (preferably near the airport) in either?

I’m not really into the whole LV scene, so actually looking for AWAY from the strip if possible.

Are you looking for cheap or nice? The FourSeasons is expensive, but it is really nice and seperated like a whole different universe away from the Casino.

Just looking for a place to crash for the night—I guess “business nice”? E.g. nice, but few amenities =)

The Ayres Hotels are always nice if you stay in Ontario. The Casino’s probably offer you the best deal for the money in Vegas, even if you don’t gamble. I think there is an Embassy Suites by the Vegas Airport, but they tend to be full of kids in my experience, because of all the free food.

@Judi Thanks! I had seen them on the list of Ontario hotels, but hadn’t looked into them—they look quite lovely. I don’t get a huge benefit to staying in LAS, so I think I will probably just stick with ONT.

(I’m flying from the east coast into Ontario for a day, the flights aren’t great, but was hoping I could improve the schedule slightly by having an “overnight” layover)

I have stayed at 2 different Ayres. They are sort of like a Hybrid Hotel? European boutique hotel.

as a Las Vegas native, I would suggest The Hotel at Mandalay Bay. It is a little more expensive then say Harrahs, Flamingo, Paris, etc., but not to the extent of the Wynn, Bellagio, etc. For a good time go to NYNY piano bar.

Off Strip, I stay at the Embassy Suites on Paradise Rd, near the Convention Center, not the one by the airport . . . non-gaming hotel, so it’s always an Easy Check-in/Check-out process, especially if you’re a HH member.

On top of that, they have Free Manager’s cocktail reception and Breakfast Buffet.

@njnyjobs Amazingly, I have stayed at that hotel for a convention! It was quite nice, and very peaceful =)

FWIW, I ended up staying at the Ayres in Ontario =)
