Is Ginger Ale one of the better sodas?

Asked by ItalianPrincess1217 (11979points) January 26th, 2010 from iPhone

I quit drinking Pepsi after years of being addicted to the stuff. I’m trying to stay away from too many sugary drinks in general and keep my diet as healthy as possible but as far as pop goes, is ginger ale not as bad for you as Pepsi or Coke would be? It has no caffeine…

I love ginger ale… my favorite of all the sodas. But I think it has the same amount of sugar as the rest of them.

Ginger ale is fucking amazing and actually quite easy to make from scratch. I suggest everyone give it a try sometime, comes out great.

My favorite hands-down is Hansens Diet! Actually tastes like there is real ginger in it. Yum! (usually found in the natural foods section of your grocery market)

Try the new Canada Dry Ginger Ale with Green Tea. Awesome
And for a spicier mix try some Ginger Beer (non alcoholic) also great.

I suggest water with lemon in it – get rid of the sugar, it is not good for you.

simone54's avatar

@uberbatman Have you actually made that?

99% of the time, I drink water -but if I’m craving a soda, I go with Ginger Ale.

“Diet” as I am a diabetic.

I prefer ginger ale over all over soft drinks.
I drink the sugar free variety and limit my consumption.
Cold, clean water is what your body needs.
Ginger ale is a pleasant treat.

Colas contain phosphoric acid which dissolves calcium in your body where it ends up deposited in your kidneys, forming stones which will ultimately destroy these vital organs.

The odd cola, once in a while, will not kill you quickly.

If you don’t believe me about colas, check the reputable medical research yourself.

@simone54 yes, many times.

ginger ale sill has a lot of sugar in it. It is a lighter soda though and is white. The ginger is the good thing about it. I love to drink it when I’m feeling sick. The darker colas are the worst kind of sodas for you. I remember reading a bunch of studies in one of my classes which all showed that darker colas contain more carcinogens than other “white” sodas like sprite, sierra mist, mountain dew. Sorry I cannot bring up the sources, but I know this is the case

Fact from fiction, truth from diction. I think hands down the best pop is Barq’s root beer, it taste closest to Barrelhead root beer I gre up with. But if I wanted something “fresh and clean with no caffeine” you can’t 7up, but I would prefer natural fruit juices to pop anyday.
