how can I make smoke without a fire or dry ice that is easy to make?

Most party and magic shops have relatively inexpensive smoke machines.

@syz, Aren’t those kinds of machines kinda the opposite of what jpilzie’s asking for?

@jpilzie, most supermarkets (at least around here) appear to carry dry ice and it’s pretty cheap. I dunno if there’s anything easier than that.
