Does you ground freeze in the Pacific NW? We, here in the Midwest, plant tulip bulbs as late and as long as we can dig up the frozen soil.

The ground doesn't ususally freeze--but there is a time when it is too late. I may have already reached it just because they are gone from the stores!

Well, there is always next year. If you’re going to plant tulips and you’re still wondering about your question, there is an article that explains your options for planting tulips in the pacific NW.

Apparently you can refrigerate the bulbs and plants them. From the article, “Tulips thrive in cooler climates; they can be grown in the South only if, after their purchase in the fall, the bulbs are stored at about 40 degrees several weeks before they are planted.”
