What is the sequence of Army officer ranks?
especially the general ranks, i.e. a brigadier general is what number of stars, etc.; on up and down

I think you have Major General and Lieutenant General reversed.

Is it the Army where you start and end with "Sir"? Or is that the Marines? E.g., Sir, Yes! Sir! (ergo, some old joke where the punch line is "Sir, Sir! Sir!")
bpeoples is correct I served in the Army. We used a mnumonic device to remember our general order. it was "Be My Little General" Brig. General, Maj. General, Lt. General, General, General of the Army
