What kind of public transportation is there in Las Vegas?

Someone asked me to visit there for a month, I hate having to drive places and am wondering if there's any way to get from Summerlin to downtown without a car. I know there's a bus system but it appears to be confined to the city proper. Thanks.

You can take Citizens Area Transit (CAT) bus 210 from the Summerlin Hospital Medical Center (at 657 North Town Center Drive) and then transfer to a 214, 403, or 106 bus, all of which will take you to the Downtown Transportation Center (at 300 North Casino Center).
