  Is the voting for American Idol fixed?

  I’m not saying that they choose the person in advance, just that they might push a person up or down a little bit each time. it just seems too perfect that it would always go back and forth between the genders.

  How does one non-profitize?

  The quickest way to start a nonprofit is to get a currently existing nonprofit to take you/your project on as a fiscally sponsored project. You need to find an organization to be the “fiscal agent”, which means donors write checks to them and they write the checks as you like. They usually take a fee off the top. The Tides Foundation in SF does this on a regular basis and has a basic form you can look at to get a sense of how it works.

  How can my girlfriend find a job in the non-profit sector?

  My advice is to start networking with people in the field she’s interested in. She should start going to coffee with people, asking them about what they do, let them know she’s interested, give them her resume, etc. Websites definitely help find job listings, but knowing people in the field will allow her to know about job openings before they’re posted and will get her out there meeting people, which may be helpful in whatever job she ends up getting.   How long before a wedding can you send out "Save the Date" announcements?

  I agree with zina that 9–12 months is ideal. Also, lots of people these days are sending Save the Dates electronically – over email or evite. just fyi
