The manager at our small not for profit organization creates a toxic environment on a daily basis. She documents every conversation, every comment between co-workers, even friendly discussions between co-workers; embellishes the conversations to meet her needs – then calls the executive director with every single word spoken in our small office, which by the way has no walls. We have had over 100% turnover in our office with her being the only one left within one year of opening our office. She plots staff against staff. All of the staff have resigned because of the hostile work environment (well one moved away). Some lasted only two months or less. I am the latest casualty; I lasted 8 months but could no longer take the bullying and abuse. I gave up my salary and health insurance with no other job in sight because of working conditions. I have spoken to the executive director, my supervisor, the director of the board with documentation and have had no response except that they accepted my resignation and will look into the matter. Ha! The regional manager has now started telling co-workersthat I am mentally ill. I am well liked and respected in the community and now with the latest and greatest gossip she has initated, I am concerned about how to proceed. Any suggestions? Workplace bullying is alive and well and I am the latest to experience the behavior of an office gossip and predator.
