  What is boredom?

  Good point, wildflower. The difference is that most times, people talk about it like it isn’t internal. “This place is boring” or “These people are boring”. In my opinion, the focus is mis-directed in those situations. I’m not saying that it’s less important, because it’s internal. Just that it should be recognized as-such, as a first step to moving forward.

  Do corporations have a moral obligation to society?

  @ballou: That’s fine. The problem is that people making decisions as a group pretend not to have a moral obligation when the group is a corporation. We don’t absolve group decisions by gangs of moral responsibility, why do it for corporations?

  What is boredom?

  Seems like there are a number of definitions of boredom being used. When I think of boredom, I don’t think of the transitional state of “I’m not being challenged enough here, so maybe I should do something about it”. Instead, I think of the state that causes both children and adults to complain “this is boring” or “I’m bored, what should I do” or “I’m bored, do something to help me”. That state, in a person, young or old, drives me nuts. It’s internal. So, the external complaint or request for help is evidence of something not being right. Either the person has been trained to be entertained by external stimuli, or they just lack the willpower to take a few steps to make themselves happy or enjoy themselves.

  Do you consider che guevara good or evil?

  I think the good/evil dichotomy, used as an either/or choice of categories to put a person or idea in, is mostly useless. Literally, I don’t think the approach has much use. I’d second mirza on the referal to the previous thread on the subject.
