  What is a good alternative to the birthday party goodie bag?

  For my daughter’s 4th birthday, we painted pet rocks. I bought little boxes at IKEA (in the kid’s section – plastic boxes with lids from a discount store would work as well) and shred construction paper for the “bedding.” I put “Hello my name is” stickers on the boxes. With the paint, boxes, and other supplies, it was a very inexpensive activity and take home goody. The adults even joined in on the fun!

  What do you do when you're depressed? What helps you get out of it?

  Exercise has really helped me in the past. I think it’s good in combination with the other things you’ve mentioned (although prob. not with the gutter…) Have you tried meditation? It doesn’t have to be done in a spiritual/religious way. I have found, however, meditation can be difficult when in a deeper depression. My other suggestion would be some kind of diet change. I’m not preaching any kind of specific diet, but cutting out (or reducing) common allergens (dairy, wheat) may help.

  This is great! No, I wasn’t bored, just curious at the answers I’d get here. I would have said no, given that the idea of the devil has come from Christianity. But…I do think evil exists without that particular construct. I do like Sueanne’s answer above. (I’m most certainly not the “freak” who was here before.)

  Is it morally wrong to not say anything?

  As others have said, it depends on what your morals are. I try to stay as consistent as possible, and since you don’t know what the repercussions of this error may be, it’s best to point it out. And it could happen the other direction—you’d want an error not benefiting you to be corrected. For me, it’s about putting “good” out in hopes that good will return to me.
