  What's in your survival kit and what would you suggest to add to my list?

  You have everything you need except money and a cell phone/charger. Actually with exception of these things, you have too much stuff. I would say only to take 1 flashlight and lose the shovel. Don’t bring batteries for stuff unless you’ll use them, or unless you have something for them. Ditch the water tank, and just bring a sports bottle. Lose the pots and pans. Wow you have too much stuff!!

  Minorities (ethnically, gendered, religious, whatever): How do you deal with the hate?

  Been there. You just have to be confident with who you are and be prepared for anything. If you think about it – everyone’s a minority in one way or another. But for me, I was a Christian in a Muslim part of the world, and I was prepared to die. Either way, if you are kind and treat people with dignity and respect, you are most likely treated the same way. For the nuts who don’t care and will hate you no matter what – I just say to be prepared just in case.

  If you drink alcohol: Does it make you uncomfortable if the person/people you are with aren't drinking also?

  Some people feel guilty about themselves because they can’t stay away from drinking to have a good time, so they want to pressure you into doing it so that they can reassure themselves that you aren’t better than them. That’s how I’ve observed things. I’ve been on both sides – guilty.
