Sometimes I wonder why I stay here. Why invest time and effort into a response that nobody is going to appreciate?

Thank for the info. I am trying to cut down on the expense as well as the alcohol. I’ll probably switch to fruit juice.

Hiya Nullo! Been a while, but I hope life is good for you. :-)
Respecting life forms is different from not killing them. I do not believe in factory farming. (Ideally plants wouldn’t be factory farmed either, but they aren’t “hurt” in the process as much as animals are.) If someone can give a cow a good life and eat Besse for dinner, I have no problem with that- I just can’t do it personally. I know animals are capable of fear and pain, whereas the verdict is still out on vegetation. Therefore, I choose not to consume anything with a nervous system. Reasoning goes beyond that, but that is how it pertains to your question.
As for my pro-death stances, I am pro-choice. An embryo is not capable of life on its own. In this sense I view it as a parasite, but would never say abortion is an acceptable form of birth control.
Mercy-killing ends pain in those that are terminal and will never see another well day. We “put down” animals because it is more “humane,” (meaning showing compassion and inflicting the minimum of pain) but have not really legalized it for humans (the root of the word humane).
As for capital punishment, some would view it as an easier way out than serving a life sentence. The flip side to this is that I believe if someone does something so heinous to be able to achieve a death sentence, they give up their rights to live or die as other people do. I am not particularly fond of lethal injection as a means, since there is a lot that can go wrong in that process. I think a narcotics overdose should be an option for those who would prefer it.
