  Parents: does your partner take half of the parental load?

  My mom did all the caregiving when I was growing up. Dad was just the guy that supported us all, and played with us when he was in the mood. He did some disciplining, but we knew that we were in BIG trouble if Dad was called in. I raised my kids the same and didn’t expect any more than that from my spouse. If I was sick or something, then he (like my Dad) would step up to the plate, but it wasn’t his usual role.

  What is it like to be 30-something?

  I didn’t feel or look much different when I was 20-something, 30-something, and 40-something. Now I am 56, and have to accept the fact that I am starting to look my age. You have a good 20 years left before you really change much..

  What does it mean (if anything) if you dream that your belly-button is dirty?

  Depends on how you feel about your belly button being dirty. Are you embarrassed, ashamed, or don’t really care. Is it dirt, or dust? To dream of something being dusty usually means that you have remembered something from the past. Dirt usually means sin or what you perceive to be sin. Being on a body part usually means intimate kinds of things (sex).

  Do dreams mean something?

  Your dream is just a manifestation of your fears. You probably have good reason to be afraid of your uncle, but if he’s not getting out for 25 years, you should try to put your mind at rest until it’s closer to the time. After all, he might die in the meantime. If not, and if the fear is really playing on your mind, try to devise a plan to protect yourself. That might make you feel better, and it sounds like you might really need to do that for your own safety.

  What foods did you hate as a child, but enjoy now?

  I liked all kinds of kid-unfriendly foods. Liver and onions, broccoli, eggplant, just about everything. Brussel sprouts tasted bitter to me as a child, but now I can’t get enough of them. Of course, they have to be swimming in butter, salt and pepper. I hated hominy – ugh! I can’t believe my mom even served it, let alone made us eat it. But then I married a Hispanic man, and his sister got me hooked on pizole, an Aztec soup made with pork and hominy.
