There’s already one question that comes to mind: How international is the Fluther community? I noticed you’re from Norway. I live in Germany. On wis.dm it was about 95% American, some UK and a few from a lot of countries.

I love Norway, We had friends living in Stavanger, had a great time visiting them a few years back.
Also worked with Norwegian students who came here with IAEA an exchange programme for students.

  Can you start a small business in a socialist country?

  Well, here in norway its pretty easy to start a new buisness I belive, depends a bit on the type of buisness and such….. You would need about 20 000$ to register as one of the types of company, but that insures you from losing your money (your money, not the companys) if you go bankrupt.

  Try an new cable ? Have you checked your routers setting/updated the firmaware…. A bit more tech info might be usefull also..

  What is it in humans that makes us create kings or elevate some to higher status?

  Because most people want something to define what they can, and cannot do. Some people are natural leaders, and thus many people flock to them for guidance. Most people often thinks it looks easy to be on the top after a while, and then they will often try to elevate themself, so theyy can have it easier. This secures a fresh pool of leaders, of wich only the “best” (in the sense that they get there instead of others, no mentioning of ethics and such) will rise highest. And as mattbrowne said.. There is a certain genetic program for this. The leader of the tribe often is the person most people agree with, wich is in my opinion why opresive Tyrants dont last very long in the grand scheme
