  Have your parents ever pressured you for grandchildren?

  My mom never said a word, but I found out when I became pregnant that she had been secretly buying little things in hope of a grandchild. She has hinted that she would like another one, but accepted it when I said it wasn’t going to happen. It was the first thing my in-laws asked when we told them we were engaged. They give me shit about not wanting more than one child all the time, too. So sad for them that it isn’t their decision to make.

  Is there a right and wrong way to pick up a cat?

  I often pick up my cat the way you described or with one hand under her chest and the other under her back legs/hips. I also pick her up under her two front “arm pits” and put her over my shoulder like a little kid – I tend to do this if I am holding her while walking.

  When guests stay overnight, do you want them to strip the bed?

  It doesn’t matter to me; they should do what makes them most comfortable. I make the bed when I stay at someone’s house because I feel I am leaving the room tidier than it would be with dirty linens out and an unmade bed. That way they also have the option of getting to it when they want. Stripping the bed takes one minute – I don’t even really understand how it is all that helpful. As for paying, I try to pay for food and I pay for my own activities. I won’t argue if they are overly insistent, but it makes me uncomfortable.
