I was just minding my business in the Balkans, removing what was left of the Byzantines and declaring war on the Hungarians, when the Mongols showed up in Baghdad.
They couldn’t show up in Sarkel or something, it had to be Baghdad, didn’t it?
I was hoping they would ignore me and head toward Jerusalem, and it looked like they were going to, because two turns later they still hadn’t attacked.
But, they did attack, at Mosul.
I was so pissing mad that I sallied and defeated the besieging stack, and it ran off into the desert.
I expected them to come back, since they had plenty more full stacks to attack me with, and I was bound to lose eventually.
But they never did.
I had better things to do than chase after them at the moment, so I ignored them for a while.
Later, out of curiosity, I sent a spy to check the desert south of Baghdad, and sure enough they were still there.
All ten stacks, formed in a perfect triangle for some reason, just sitting there, not moving at all.
What the hell is wrong with them?
Why don’t they get out of my territory and go bother the Fatimids like normal people?
There are too many of them for me to fight myself, so they are essentially stuck there forever until I can get enough soldiers to get rid of them.
And of course, the Timurids arrived in Yerevan before that happened.
