Thank you for the nice answer. I do have hot feet (at least they make me hot). I like how you seemed to understand how I feel. And I like the idea of revealing sandals. The more revealing the better.
Regarding your answer: Thanx, Zaku. Yours was the only answer (so far) that has much value to me. I don’t know what the startup scripts look like in Windows, but I’d imagine that there’s a list somewhere that, once exhausted, would signify that startup activities are now done. Certainly I see my desktop way before the machine has settled down and become responsive.

I did. Scite gulped (103 MB) and showed a bunch of gibberish. nul ack 2x! ack nul and so on.
