  How can I get relief from ear congestion?

  @gailcalled; I have heard of a few people who had this issue and they do make cute little pluggie/tube things (have no idea what they are actually called) for this, that create air flow during neti potting. Looked for a link but they are sold in hard core health stores and some on-line Indian markets. And that said, doing Neti pot can hurt badly when you have a sinus infection too, but I have always found it to be worth the temporary distress. My friend who had some discomfort with the Neti pot found she was good if she put some rubbing alcohol on a piece of cotton in her ears right after performing Neti. She is quite tiny as humans go, I wonder if the small tubes created her issue and if this is a simple fix for that… lots of speculation and incomplete info here… perhaps someone will pick up where I leave off…. Thanks for opening a new discussion! : )

  What is art?

  I think a spiderweb is art but by many lofty definitions, it would not make the cut. My answer, after years of study in both the fields of art and art history, is that “Art is anything that reflects the mystery of life or the truth of existence”. By this definition, everything is art. Even the last crap you took. I also believe that everyone is an artist and we are always trying to find ways to express ourselves. The trick is to find a way that satisfies you. Now for some, they are not satisfied without commercial success or at least having people say that they like the work. Others are happy not to even show their work to others. I say- express yourself! Write, Draw, Paint, make shapes with shadows in candlelight at dinner, notice the pattern in leaves, wear clothes that match or don’t match… be YOU, you’re the only one who gets that chance, the only one who can create whatever YOU will create- get to it!

  Do you think life is basically good?

  Ah, comtemplating life… I agree that we are given all that we need, that the path is laid before us and has a constant ability to compensate for what I like to call our “free-will” accidents. I think it’s hard to shake expectations that make life seem dificult or unfair. The idea that if we work hard and are “good” people, things should be easy or “bad” things won’t happen to us. The dream of “true love” or “success”, there’s so much to chase out there. But, I feel, the flow is just a flow, it’s not about gaining anything, even higher awareness. It is as it is, we are as we are. And rather it’s “good” or not, there’s no fighting it or changing it. Do I think life is good? I think there are moments when my lack of understanding or my desire for control or answers create a perception that life has some flaws I’d like to discuss with management. But I have known moments of such complete joy and awe, and experienced the strength of whatever guides this flow and I feel there is benevolence at the heart, at the core, at the cellular, atomic, sub atomic level of it all… I think life is life, that good and bad are judgements I create in my mind and that I am eternally grateful for the life I have. And I love talking esthetics with Adam!

  How can I make myself healther and more resistant to viruses/colds/etc.?

  There are some great homeopathic herb formulas for boosting your immune system. Look online or at a Whole Foods. Eating nutrient rich foods, lots of raw fruits and veggies will help your immune system stay strong. Be sure to get lots of sleep, avoid stress and deal with it using breathing excercises, regular physical activity, stretching… Avoiding processed foods and high sugar foods that tax the system and also coffee and alcohol, which are fine now and then but in regular use will wear you down and inhibit ideal functioning of your systems. I also agree about avoiding sharing drinks, and wash your hands often.

  How can I get relief from ear congestion?

  I agree that you should see a doctor, but a neti pot will relieve some of the pressure by totally clearing the sinus area. A neti pot in regular use will help with overall ear, nose, throat health. I find ear candles useless but some people swear by them. I would avoid them. The neti pot has a long history of increasing and maintaining health.
