I too went to school with a couple of sets of identical twins. one set had rhyming names and were always referred to as a unit whereas the other twins had completely unrelated names and had their own identities. I’m sure there was more to it than their names, but lumping them together from infancy as a unit has to have some effect (affect?) on the way they view themselves…
