  Do you dislike the sound of your voice on recordings?

  You definitely get used to it. I worked in radio years ago, thought I sounded like a whiny geek at first, then realized that I was a whiny geek, so now I’m good with it. (Actually, people tell me that I have a great voice, but it’s funnier to say that I sound like a whiny geek, because if I say that I have a great voice, you’ll all think I’m an arrogant ass.) (But really, it is magnificent. You should hear it.)

  What do you think of Cupertino, CA?

  Cupertino is a lovely place. Pretty much the center of my working and spiritual life in California from about 1983 through 1995, at both HP and Apple and at Good Samaritan United Methodist Church at the corner of Homestead and Wolfe. I can’t afford to live there, can’t afford to send my kid to school there any more (I had him in a private school there for four years), but I’d live there if I could. And it’s funny, too, because the weather there is pretty much identical to East San Jose, where houses cost about one half what they do in Cupertino. I have no idea whether the questioner is interested in a racially diverse community or not, but I believe that Caucasians may now be a minority in that heavily-Chinese area.

  Why is the High Five losing out to the Fist Bump?

  @PVBMISFIT — Ironically, even though I am the creator of revivethefive.org and part of a casual movement to bring back the high five, I don’t see any reason to demean both the fist bump and homosexuals by using the word “gay” as though it was an acceptable criticism. If you don’t like the fist bump, don’t do it. High five your friends, join the movement, but let’s remember that both the High Five and the Fist Bump are friendly endeavors.

  Are online friends really friends?

  Not automatically.. But like people you meet and interact with in the “real world”, they certainly can become real friends. The relationship will likely be different than people you know in 3D-space, but genuine emotional and spiritual bonds can be formed online as well as in the physical realm. Of course, it’s easier to be taken advantage of online, so you have to keep your wits about you, but friendship comes from relationships, and real relationships can form online.
