  Which colleges have great psychology departments? Early childhood development?

  UC Berkeley has one of the best-known scientists in the attachment field, Mary Main. Her model of child attachment is well-respected and used by several specialist in the US. It’s such an interesting and exciting theory, mostly based on the early childhood years. Worth to check.

  Do you live by absolute or relative morals and truths?

  Relative. My adorable friend Andre from Brazil would say: “does it hurt or harm someone? Does it hurt you? Then it’s fine to do”. Perhaps this is not exactly a relative moral criterion but an ethic one. I would say the ethic is more personal; the moral sounds too censoring and blaming to me – a doctrine imposed from the outside world whereas the ethic is something I’m free to shape by my own making use of the values I truly believe- a broad list. Relative. So many things to be taken into account when living and dealing with others. This does not mean I’m not eventually caught by impulses of anger or so, the well-known Kleinian bivalency (I’m not her best fan, but now it seemed convenient to me, because, you see? I’m relatively moral…). I do have those, won’t lie. But again, the ethics deals with the behavior not the psychology, which is subject to some other of our virtual “round-table”. Anyway, I’m careful not to allow the moral beliefs of the society or religion or even fashion to shape my behavior. I have to say, I do have my own values, they are “absolutely relative : ) ” and they work just for me. And I’m stubborn. Ow, and I lie too…my white recreational lies… Relative moral/ Personal ethics! All this unnecessary for those whose actions are essentially motivated by love. Kevbo, thanks for making us think about all this. Helena.

  What exactly is palm oil?

  Hi Joli, Palm oil is the the oil from trees from the Palmacea family. The Palmacea family of trees includes the coconut and other typically tropical palm trees such as the babacu, the acai and the dende that you can find, for example, in Brazil, my home country. Palm oil fat is mainly composed of palmitic acid which is a saturated fat with 18 carbons. It’s a long fatty acid. Everything bad that you hear about saturated fat also applies to palm oil as a saturated fat. Whether it is good or bad for digestion…? I don’t know. I wouldn’t take palm oil as a supplement because of its deleterious effects on your health. Many vascular and neurovascular diseases show a high correlation with saturated fat intake. I would use it on my legs, to make them feel very soft. If you go into the sun with it, you will get burned very easily, but it is very moisturizing. I use it for this. I hope you try it and enjoy it in this way!
