  Are people truly happy in their life?

  Your thoughts determine your happiness. Other than that I think being grateful for the good stuff creates less angst with your world and makes you feel happier. Understanding choice and knowing you can’t control how others behave lightens things up. I’m usually a range of emotion through each day. I try to do things that make me happy, have thoughts that cheer me, and look for the good in others. I’m currently trying to not be impatient wanting this or that to happen NOW. I feel happier for that. I also remind myself daily the bit about others. They will behave as they please. I can enjoy them or ignore them as needed. Right now I am truly happy, but tomorrow morning I don’t know. Maybe after breakfast, or just before lunch..

  Have you ever gargled with drano?

  NO! Not female issues! I think she should face the music and become a stronger person by it. I hosted a meeting once and completely blew it by not being prepared, losing my grip on the group and passing the buck to another better suited than I. Or she can come down with laringitis without really doing so. Fake it, don’t burn your throat. I met a woman recently who swallowed lye to try to kill herself. She lived but burned her entire esophogus and now speaks through a hole/tube in her throat. She cannot swallow and gets her nutrician through intravenous tubing.

  Why is everyone so uptight about how much money they make?

  Our money is equal to our worth in the eyes of societal collusion. This makes it a personal issue. Personal issues are not to be shared lightly for the very reason that they evoke emotion in others, and judgement usually follows. People at my current employment all seem to feel like they’re not making enough, which makes them interested in what the others are making, while at the same time making them feel inadequate. It’s the wrong way to go. We should base our merit on our merit, not create tension and conflict within our group, pointing fingers saying she does less and makes more, etc. It’s best not to know what anyone makes unless you’re trying to break into a new field of work, and the information is relative to your situation. Even then, ball park figures are the way to go, high end and low end of the scale. In my opinion, of course!

  How does having a child changed your perception of the city (and city living)?

  I stayed in the city to expose my daughter to culture and the different kinds of people. I wanted her to know how to have an open mind to different experiences, varied diet and the many ideas about life. San Francisco is a very kid friendly city. (The rent is what kills you but the trade-off worked for me.) When she went to her first year in college she complained the school, (Marin county), wasn’t diverse enough.

  Online harassment: What to do?

  Thanks! All good advice. I expected the police to not take it too seriously, however, the person could vary well end up with the tag of sexual offender with his behavior. At least, I will have a civil restraining order and he’ll have to protest, and contest to get it off his record. All in all it’s annoying to have someone feel justified in seemingly unstable behavior. I haven’t responded in any way for months, but if I unblock him, there’s an e-mail within a day or two. I don’t want to wake up with him on my doorstep, so I’ve been keeping an eye out and now is the time for action. It’s been well over 6 months. Ridiculous.
