  What is the best book (of any kind) that you've read and why did you like it so much?

  The Sci Fi genre seems to be leading the pack here (and I’m a fan), but I have to cast my vote for a Western. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry is far and away the best book I have ever read. McMurtry has an unmatched gift for creating characters. If you like epic adventure stories, characters that leap off the page, Pulitzer Prize winning dialog and beautiful sparse prose this book is for you. The best part is it’s really long and there are three others in the series. There is also an amazing miniseries they made of the book staring Robert Duvall, Tommy Lee Jones, Danny Glover, Diane Lane and Chris Cooper. It won seven Emmys and Robert Duvall justly compared his role to playing Hamlet. It’s an epic piece of film-making; better than anything I have seen on TV, but the book is better.

  How about sharing some old, out of use, expressions with me?

  Wise guy hunh? The use of “sand” to mean moxie or balls. I also love the gesture of clasping your hands together and shaking them firmly on one side of your head and then the other to indicate some type of congratulation or self congratulation. I can imagine people cheering Huzzah!

  Where can I download suspensful or scary sound effects?

  Sounddogs.com – They have a great search engine and you can download low quality versions for free. The high quality version of the effects you have to pay for, but they are usually not that expensive. I have used several sound archive sites and this is far and away the best, they have a massive collection of sounds.

  Sleeping on the driver's side, have you noticed this?

  @Adagio & @Darwin Yes my wife drives a lot, but this is why I sleep on the passenger side of the bed… JERRY: Don’t be so sure. Look at George – he’s on his ninth date with Betsy, he still hasn’t gotten anywhere with her. ELAINE: What’s his problem? JERRY: Well, every time he tries to make a move, something screws up. Like on their last date, they were on the couch, but she was sitting on his wrong side. ELAINE: Wrong side? JERRY: Yeah, she was on his right side. He can’t make a move with his left hand. Can’t go left. ELAINE: He can’t go left. JERRY: No! I’m lefty, can’t go right. What about women? Do they go left or right? ELAINE: Nah, we just play defense.
