I am a former school and public librarian, staying at home with my daughter for her first year or two.

All valid points. I always thought softball was a girl game. I think boys are more likely to play T ball than softball if baseball isn’t around. Unless, as I mentioned the school just has the one option of softball for PE.
A friend of mine’s daughter plays baseball I think. The family is hugely into baseball, live going to the pro games, and I know the younger draught plays what I always assumed was baseball, but know I wonder if it’s softball? She would probably be able to answer a lot of your questions. She sometimes is hard to get a hold of but I could try to just see what her basic response is to some of your questions.
They are a military family and possibly the military has a different perspective, although her children go to public schools. I don’t know if their daughter plays for her school or a different league.
