  How many web designers are there?

  @noyesa – Oh, I quite agree. Personally I use Textmate, Coda, Espresso and CSSEdit at different times. All of which are Mac only. @froamer – Yup, a web app is a very nice compromise!

  What are people's opinions of the iPhone App for Fluther?

  I’m using it now, and it seems quite nice. Actually, seeing that the app had been released allowed me to discover the site.

  Web Development: Coda vs. TextMate / CSS Edit combo?

  This is a great question. Personally I use Coda + CSSEdit + Textmate + Espresso, the new all-in-one program from the creator of CSSEdit. I know that’s not that helpful in answering your question, but I thought I’d throw Espresso in there. It’s very early days for Espresso, but if it progresses the way it should, it’ll be the answer to your question in due course…

  How many web designers are there?

  I don’t know helpful this is would be, but you could always try contacting AIGA (http://www.aiga.org) or Aquent (http://www.aquent.com), as both do annual surveys about designers. The Design Council in the UK take a similar role. And, FYI, I’m a graphic and web designer, and I use a mac (as do most designers I know). I only touch a PC to test sites. Just saw your response – a good web designer doesn’t need many tools: pen, paper, something like Omnigraffle to wireframe, a text editor to write code, Photoshop to wrangle images and either a SVN or FTP client. Maybe Flash (ugh). All of which are more than available on a mac.
