Well, that's sort of the crux of the thing. Fiction-wise I'm not as enthusiastic or knowledgeable about anyone else. What I like about Palaniuk, though, is his prism of American subcultures, themes involving the pursuit of pleasure/satisfaction through (purifying) degradation and destruction, and his masculine voice as has been noted. Of course, the whole is greater than the parts and that includes his brilliant language and narrative. So, I don't know... not looking for a clone but a similarly intense experience. Thanks.

Re: Lyme disease. How long ago were you at camp in Putnam County? Increase of disease has been dramatic in the past few years. Columbia County, where I am, seems to have the highest # of cases in the state at last count.
