  Has anyone ever couchsurfed? (Couchsurfing.com)

  I was hosted in Paris through couchsurfing and had a great experience. My friends who have hosted in the US have had generally good experiences too. Since members are “vouched for” on CS, and leave comments, it’s not to hard too find people who would be a good fit for you. That being said, I would respect your own comfort limits (for example, solo female travelers may prefer not to be hosted by men). @ben I’m not sure airbnb is a “replacement” for CS since the premise of the former is a marketplace rather than a cultural exchange.

  What's the best technique for dealing with my cell phone in France?

  I’m with @Dorkgirl, though I don’t have personal experience with Mobal. what I did was get the cheapest simcard phone I could find, then keep it and replace the simcard when I show up in whatever new exciting country you are in. it’s cheap, and you don’t have to worry about losing your primary phone (or having it stolen).

  Having the bag also requires passengers to remain in their seats, reducing the mass panic that might otherwise ensue.

  What matters more for law school?

  I am currently in law school. I know lots of people at lots of law schools. The LSAT is the most important part of your application. Of course, you want everything else to look good too. If you are coming straight from college, then grades and LSAT are even more important because you don’t have work experience to recommend yourself. I don’t think it’s all that important to have work experience in a legal setting as long as you are clear about WHY you want to go in your personal statement. As Darwin mentioned, be open to a variety of schools. Different law schools have strengths in different areas. So depending on what kind of law you are interested, you might find that a “lower” ranked school is better suited to your [future] career.
