  What childhood or adulthood event scarred you physically for life?

  embarrassing scar: once when i was 13, when i was just starting to cut, i was pretty creative about my tools—so as i tried to use scissors to cut through plastic where a tiny razor blade awaited, it slipped and ended up slicing up my left thumb open. 3 gashes, had to run around the house getting more band-aids than i had originally bargained for. i can laugh about it now because i was so young and silly :)

  What is a sorority and its benefits?

  a sorority is a social club, usually at a college or university, composed of all girls (at least to my knowledge; i know fraternities can be co-ed). usually, the girls in it are relatively similar to each other—they all are “sisters” and stick together throughout life. they have philanthropies, which means they do community service for a particular organization. there is a certain stereotype to go along with sorority girls—that they’re all bitchy or slutty. greek life is huge at my school, though, and the majority of sorority girls i know are all generally kind individuals looking to have some fun and do some service with their friends. my mom was a sorority girl, and all of her friends today were her sisters or in different sororities. i did not “pledge” (commit to join) this semester, because i am a freshman – but i am hopefully doing so next spring.
