Snd- I’m going to ask you these directly, rather than posting it. Hope you have the answers:
I run my electric guitar into a solid-state amplifier through various pedals, including a tube pre-amp. Some of the pedals (and the pre-amp) have volume controls that boost the signal considerably. I’m worried that I’ll damage the amp by sending too powerful a signal, either through the input jack (which sounds great) or the effects loop (which sounds a little compressed). Is this a danger? I went with tube into ss so I could practice/record at lower volumes.
Also, speaking of lower volumes, what is the lower limit that I should use? you were saying that speakers are damaged by low power levels, and sometimes I have the urge to try something out in the middle of the night, turning the volume down past “1” as not to disturb the neighbors. Also, I run through a full stack- 8×12” high capacity. (I sometimes unplug the bottom cab when I play low-volume, though.) Thanks in advance…
