squirbel’s story

My talent is learning. Certainly God-given.

I have answers for almost anything, but that does not mean I think I am always right. Speak with confidence and be surprised with what you get. Type O+ blood type.

Some people have asked why my lurve is much lower than it used to be. I personally requested Andrew to reset it to 0, because I was against the idea of lurve as a motivator. Que sera, sera. Currently trying to get it to permanently remain at zero. le sigh.

Re: Male and female evolution.

I would recommend “The Red Queen” by Matt Ridley, for reading about this subject. It’s a tad broad to be able to explain it in a mere Fluther comment, but here’s part of the section that explains the answer.

Thank you, that’s worth much more than “lurve”.

Regarding your answer:

Thanks for the response. I was looking at this Motorola cable modem on Amazon: http://tinyurl.com/cr3khl Is that considered “higher” than the 5120? I believe it might be a newer model, but I’m not sure. I called Cox who also recommended the Motorola cable modems over any other brand.

As for the D-Link router-

I asked a previous question on Fluther about this: http://tinyurl.com/dhtyw8

In addition to the responses I read there, I did a lot of research on my own. The overall consensus I’ve seen is that the Linksys WRT310N Wireless-N Gigabit Router runs too hot and therefore fails a lot, while the Linksys WRT610N Simultaneous Dual-N Band Wireless Router has mixed performance and range for an overly high price. Likewise, I have yet to read a good review about a Netgear wireless-N router.

The new Belkin N+ Wireless Router seems to be scoring high marks, but it is very new on the market and therefore hasn’t been tested as long for reliability.

The D-Link DIR-655 seems to be scoring generally favorable reviews across the board both from editors and users. While D-Link has some fancier routers available, this model seems to be a good combination between value and performance. I have had people tell me that D-Link has really “gotten their act together recently” whereas Linksys seems to have dropped the ball.

Lastly as a Mac user, i’ve strongly considered Apple’s Airport Extreme, but it would seem that while solid, there are better deals to be had out there both in terms of performance and price.

Still, I’m open to any and all feedback.
