  If someone hits my vehicle and that person's insurance company writes me a check and I keep the money rather than get my vehicle repaired, is that insurance fraud?

  From my experience it depends upon the insurance company. Some of the big ones will have you take the car to the shop of your choice, get a quote and then they will pay the shop directly. This happened to us recently. This is usually better for the insurance company one, because they can prenegotiate costs and two they will generally avoid over paying the claim. I have had the other way happen too. I once got a $500 check to have a quarter sized dent taken out of a bumper. I was baffled, and got the repair done good as new for $30. But also beware like Pandora points out that your insurance company will know about the damage and can reject a claim if something else happens and you cannot show proof that you had it repaired. One last thing, if you car has a lien on it(which it doesn’t sound like in your case), the lender may require that you get it repaired. You can still do so at reduced cost by doing it yourself, etc. and keep the extra.

  What type of services does the internet lack?

  Last mile coverage. There are still parts of the US that don’t even have copper coverage. I know there are parts of West Texas that have no cell coverage much less data coverage.

  How much can pre-grad part-time job experience help my propects as a BS grad?

  Has a hiring manager in IT for more than 13 years, I will tell you that working on the Geek Squad tells me nothing of your technical ability. What it does tell me is that if you lasted more than a year you #1 probably have decent people skills and #2 you have the intestinal fortitude to stick with something that seriously sucks. The tutoring tells me far more than your time at Geek Squad. I generally hire for Systems Engineer positions(operating system and hardware) and I always look for people who have problem solving skills. Anything math related and outside school setting is always a plus. I imagine that a Software Developer interview is going to focus a lot on problem solving as well since that is what is at the heart of most software development. I always give notice to any activity that benefits society whether or not it involves IT especially when you could be doing stuff like playing xBox or doing stuff that has no bearing on your future.

  I cant download updates for my apps so what is the problem?

  I have had a similar problem and I had to resync with iTunes first then my updates would download. either from iTunes or over wifi. I just updated my firstgen touch to 3.0 and had no trouble at all.

  I haven’t even been in a record store in years… iTunes has plenty of discovery options. That’s the whole point of Genius.
