  Has anyone used financial software like Mint or Wesabe?

  I was one of the original programmers at Wesabe. It’s a great service. I don’t think they show this information right now, but I think they’re getting ready to.

  The stories in the Law And Order series collection, are they realistic?

  Many are inspired by true stories and you can usually get the background issue from the Law & Order wiki: http://lawandorder.wikia.com/wiki/Law_%26_Order_wiki Last spring, my partner and I decided we wanted to watch and blog every episode. We only made it through the first 11, but there were pretty clear ties to real life cases for all of those. I’m hoping to get back to the blog soon (http://www.blawg-and-order.com)

  Open source service like CollectiveX or Linkedin?

  The current best and most complete open source social network is Elgg. If you want to a service that hosts it for you and is customizable you have a lot of options. TechCrunch (a leading reviewer of web startups) reviewed nine: http://www.techcrunch.com/2007/07/24/9-ways-to-build-your-own-social-network/ I can say a bit about one company on that list, CrowdVine, because I founded it. We’re very focused on connecting people and then getting out of their way. This tends to work best in business situations like conferences or intranets.

  What is your fave web community you are part of besides fluther?

  For nerds, I really love Hacker News, news.ycombinator.com. They enforce a thoughtful community so you get really great discussions and comments.
