It’s really a long story, he met a girl online, she came to the US, they married, she didn’t get her citizenship – returned to Sweden, he followed her only to find out she had divorced him, he remarried (the mother of his daughter), she ran off with an artist from London, they divorced. He now has a partner (not wife)who saved his life when his stroke hit. They were visiting her parents farm at the time and have been together about five years.
re: grandchild in Sweden; my youngest son lives nearby and has a 2 year old grandson that I babysit three days and nights a week. They are expecting a second son next month. I am happy every time I see him.
My oldest son lives in Sweden with his partner, and is divorced from his wife, the mother of my granddaughter, who I will never meet.
Sweden Son suffered a severe stroke a year and a half ago, and lost custody of the girl. He is slowly recovering – Thanks to the excellent health care system in that country. Here, he probably would have died, with the sad state of the insurance system in the US.
Mods, they are people too.

Calvin & Hobbes are sorely missed. And nothing is better than a hug from someone who loves and acceps you as you are.
I’ve not read The Giver… briefly had a quick look at it though… looks very interesting ..why do you ask?
